Please pray for the families of Ethan Powell, Madison Beck & Evan Thomason .
This is the e-mail from one of our church ladies about what is going on with Ethan Powell.
Please pray for this family and for this 6-month old baby.
He is now 6 months old and was diagnosed with AML (Leukemia) at 2 months.
You can visit Ethan's website at (ethanpowell.com) and click on updates to follow his progress.
God has already answered SO MANY PRAYERS for this baby and He can do it again.
Ethan was not supposed to survive the first 72 hours after his diagnosis because his blood counts were so bad.
This is what Ethan's parents were told today.
So... imagine that you walked into a room and heard 'there is a good chance that your child is going to die' for the second time. Not in so many words, that is what we were told.
Then we were given a list of how this may happen over the next few weeks. The top 5 are as follows:
- relapse- organ failure
- infection
- graft failure (in other words... his body would reject my cells)
- graft vs host (basically this means my cells would attack his body)
Now, remember these are considered more likely because his marrow is 'empty'. We will try to explain that better in the coming days. But for now I would like for you to focus on the something. Rather than look at where we are going, I am going to request that you sort of cheat ... AND REMEMBER WHERE WE HAVE BEEN! Remember what all Ethan has overcome through God's divine hand. (1.6millions white blood cells, relapse, and on and on)
We are asking that you hit your knees and pray with all that you have. We are pleading with you to BELIEVE WITH US... PRAYER WORKS!!!
Madison Beck -Pray for the Beck family they are from McCalla and Madison was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia September 6, 2005. She has been through so much for a 8 year old I couldn't imagine what she and her parents and family are going through. She is doing better but Madison now has gallstones. The stones cause a problem since she is on chemotherapy and at any time may have low counts causing her prone to infection. Chris, Colby & I ran into the family at Milo's by Wal-Mart and Madison is a sweet little girl and her mom is sweet as can be. Pray for Madison and her family.
You can go to her caring bridge site at www. caringbridge.org/visit/madisonbeck
Evan Thomason - Please pray for the Thomason family,m they are also from McCalla. Evan was diagnosed with stage 4 high risk neuroblastoma he was diagnosed in late July of 2006. This little boy and his family have been through it all. He has had alot of pain in his leg lately, and this is the last update I got about what was going on with him. I go to his site everyday to check and see how things are with him. This is what his mom wrote: Evan's MIBG scan shows no change whatsoever and his bone marrow is pretty much the same, as well. The leg pain is very questionable. An Xray that was done on Monday (which is not a reliable test) determined that Evan had disease progression in the leg. The MRI (which is much more reliable) shows swelling in the area where Evan has disease but it can't be determined whether it is progression or something else, such as an injury or cell death. They just flat don't know. Because Evan has never had an MRI before, they can't compare it with anything. This was the conversation that we appreciate our doctor having with us but one that is very hard to stomach. The fact is that there really are not a lot of options left for Evan. There are a few Phase 1 and Phase 2 trials that have not been proven to work for neuroblastoma at this point. Basically, we were told that there is no hope for curing Evan. It is no longer a matter of "if" this progresses. It is a matter of "when". No time frame was given because Evan still continues to feel and act well and no sure signs of progression are evident. Dr. Furman is willing to continue to treat until all options have run out or until we ask him to stop.
Please pray for all of these families and thank God everyday that you have a healthy child and a healthy family.
