4 years of Basketball

Here are some pictures of Colby from his 1st year to this year his 4th of playing basketball. I swear he is getting taller by the minute! If he is anything like my dad which was 6"1 and Chris who is 6"2 he will pass me in no time. He is already up to my chin. He is growing up into a young man and he is not my baby anymore which makes me sad. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful little man in our lives.

UAB BLAZERS

Saturday night we went to the UAB Blazers Girls Basketball game. Hueytown was having a thing called Books for Baskets contest between some schools. Our school was judged on how many people from the school came, how many people wore school colors and how much school spirit we had. They also had 3 people form our school shoot as many baskets as they could within a certain time and they did so good... Needless to say we did great and HUEYTOWN ELEMENTARY ROCKS!!! We all had a blast and hope to get some tickets just to have a fun night with the family! The picture of the little girl is Colby's 3rd grade teacher's daughter. She is the sweetest little thing!

Boys & Mud!!

This is from a few weekends ago when Colby, Conner, Zack Hunter road 4 wheelers in the mud and then had a mud fight. They were all covered from head to toe. I had to scrub Colby's legs and arms to get the mud off... And for the white socks they ARE NOT white anymore!

Congress passes a new "STUPID" bill !!!!

I got this from another blogger so I thought I would pass it on as well. This is the craziest thing I have ever heard.....

Apparently, as of 2/10/09 Congress has passed a bill banning the sale/resell of items made for children under the age of 12 that have not been tested for possible contaminants. This law includes clothing, toys, books, decor etc. This is outrageous! Online stores like ebay and etsy are going to be hugely affected by this. It also mentions thrift stores, goodwill stores, consignment sales, salvation army and yard sales. So many creative and talented crafters are going to be put out of business. So many people who shop at places like ebay and thrift stores are going to be hurt by this. Can you imagine all the now "garbage" we are going to be creating by having to throw out everything rather than reselling? Here is a summary of the legislature.

As of February 10, 2009, you will no longer be able to sell or buy children's used clothing under the CPSIA. Not at the Goodwill, not at a consignment shop, not on eBay. Not even at a yard sale. If you do, you face a $100,000 fine and 5 years of imprisonment. That is, unless the seller can find a government-approved way to test the garments that won't force them out of business. The CPSIA was an important legislative contribution to efforts to strengthen product safety laws for children's products. Although well-intentioned, if left unaltered, on February 10th, 2009 children's resale, consignment and nonprofit thrifts currently selling gently-used children's items will be forced to close or close their children's departments to consumers. The work of nonprofit organizations like Goodwill, Salvation Army and many smaller groups will be severely impacted.

You can contact the Consumer Product Safety Commission at http://www.cpsc.gov/.

***Update - the CPSC released a clarification today stating "The new safety law does not require resellers to test children’s products in inventory for compliance with the lead limit before they are sold. However, resellers cannot sell children’s products that exceed the lead limit and therefore should avoid products that are likely to have lead content, unless they have testing or other information to indicate the products being sold have less than the new limit. Those resellers that do sell products in violation of the new limits could face civil and/or criminal penalties." So, it looks as if consignment and Ebay are safe for now!

Happy 10th Anniversary!!

Well today is the day! Chris & I have been married for 10 years today!!
I am proud of how much we have grown together as husband & wife, as parents & as a family. He makes me complete and if I didn't have him I wouldn't have anything! Today I told him how much I loved him and what a wonderful hubby he was and how I fell in love with him when I first met him 12 years ago (like he didn't know that) and that I love him more now than I did then. I told him to just think 20 more years will have flown by and we will be married 30 years! I cant wait to grow old with my loving hubby!

He is my world and I love him very much!
HAPPY 10th ANNIVERSARY BABY!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I hope everyone had a safe & happy new year. We stayed at home and spent time together as a family which was wonderful!! We watched a few movies, ate popcorn, shot some fireworks, Colby & Sam road on the skateboard and Chris & Colby burned the leaves in the process!! Chris and Colby were shooting bottle rockets and caught our leaves on fire that Chris just raked up and put by the road for the city to pick up. Oh well I guess they have no need to come by our house now.. For some reason I could not get my camera to take any good pictures which really ticked me off but I got a few and that is all that matters. If anyone knows of a digital camera that is really good and doesn't break us please give me some ideas Iwant a new one!!!

Thanksgiving, Hunting & Squirt!!!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving this year I know we did and I am very thankful to have such a great family that I love.. We spent Thanksgiving day with Re-Re, Millie, Paw-Paw Roy, Uncle Joe & Spring and woke up bright and early on Friday to go HUNTING!! I was soooo sleepy we hunt in Blount County so we had to get up extra early to meet Chris's dad and Cody and be in our stand around 5:30 but we made it. We had such a great time it was the first time we have went hunting as a family and it was wonderful. The land is owned by Chris's Uncle and it is BEAUTIFUL!!! After we got back from eating breakfast about 11:30 or so we just walked around and of course I took lots of pictures. We also have a new member in our family and her name is Squirt and she is a Boston Terrier. She is such a sweet and smart dog. The other night Chris & Colby took her for her walk and she was cold when they got back and the dryer had stopped so Chris was getting the clothes out and sat her in there and she was looking all around she didn't know what was going on. And NO we did not actually dry her!! :) Oh and by the way ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!
